An Evolutionary Diet

Ever wonder how dogs survived when their owners couldn't run to the local grocery store and fetch them a bag of kibble, or a couple cans of “meat”? What did dogs eat before there was “dog food”?

The idea of mass-produced, processed pet food is a modern-day notion that actually goes against all we know about the biological needs of our dogs. For their own health, dogs need to eat a raw food diet, much like their ancestor, the wolf, still eats.

Typically moose, deer, and caribou make up a gray wolf’s diet.  A growing body of research reveals that gray wolves depend on other sources of food. Some biologists, including Alaska Fish and Game biologist Dave Person, who have been studying gray wolves on Prince of Wales Island for 12 years, have found that salmon accounts for up to 20 percent of a wolf’s diet if the protein is readily available.

Our dogs need food that mimic their ancestral diet as closely as possible.

All of the fundamental nutrition your dog needs for proper growth rate are benefits of our complete and balanced raw diets.

  • development of a strong immune system
  • maintenance of essential digestive system flora
  • overall good health

“Although we as humans have changed the appearance and the nature of the dog in all sorts of ways by domestication, we have not changed its basic internal workings. In other words, today’s domestic dog essentially has the same digestive system and overall physiology as its ancestor, the wolf.”

Raw Food Tip:

Comparing the dangers of feeding a dry kibble diet and a natural raw meat diet is an interesting comparison. All I can say is that the news media has presented far more detrimental feeding scenarios from eating dry kibble than from eating a raw meat diet.
