And They Call It Puppy Love

Congratulations on your new puppy!  Bringing home a cute, adorable, new puppy is very exciting!  It can also be a bit overwhelming, not only for your new fur baby, but also for you.  Even the most prepared puppy parent may feel somewhat anxious.   Some questions you may have:

  • Where should my puppy sleep?
  • What kind of puppy bed should I buy?
  • What toys are safe for my new puppy?
  •  How do I puppy-proof my home?

What should I feed my puppy? – Which is the most important question.

Today, as we celebrate, National Puppy Day, I’d like to talk about the importance of starting your fur baby on the proper diet.   Did you know that puppies can safely enjoy a raw food diet just like adult dogs?  It is extremely important as a responsible pet parent that you start your puppy off on the right paw when it comes to his daily nutrition.

Robert Mueller, Sr. co-formula of the BARF diet explains, “After seeing the development of puppy growth patterns over the last 40 years, I have observed that ingestion of high levels of soluble carbohydrates found in most commercial pet foods cause these irregular growth spurts to happen at different intervals.

What basically happens because of these sporadic growth spurts is the muscle and bone development is completely out of sync. This can generate major stress on the skeletal structure of the animal. If the muscles, tendons, cartilage and bone all develop at different rates the result is structural damage in the form of hip dysplasia, arthritis, and other musculoskeletal conditions.

By feeding puppies a raw food diet, like the BARF Diet®, you tend to slow down these growth spurts and instead allow the muscle and bone development to happen at a slower, more defined pace. This minimizes the risk of developmental issues in the dog.”

Here, at BARF® World, Inc. we recommend that you start feeding your puppy a raw diet at 10 weeks of age.  The BARF World diet is a complete and balanced diet for all your pet’s life stages.

By feeding your fur baby the BARF Diet®, you are not only a responsible pet parent but also investing in your fur baby’s healthy future.  From puppy to adult to senior, you can ensure that your pet has the best chance of a long, healthy and happy life.
