Are Sugar Substitutes Really Harmful?

There are detrimental effects that sugar can have on the body.  Some may believe that artificial sweeteners are a great alternative.  However, many people experience neurological problems after the use of artificial sweeteners, such as:

  • Headaches
  • Migraines
  • Attention and cognitive metabolic difficulties

The sugar sweetener aspartame is particularly dangerous for those with a metabolic condition called PKU (phenylketonuria). In addition, there is a drastic effect the sweeteners have on the pH and the amount of water it takes to neutralize just 1 can of artificially sweetened soda.

The basic lesson to be learned is that the least amount of artificial chemicals and impurities that we consume - the healthier we will be.

Eliminating sugar leads to a stronger immune system which in turn does its metabolic magic on the cells and operating systems of the body.  Once you realize the damage that sugar and sugar substitutes have on the pancreas, teeth, bones, digestive and immune system you will notice that this is one element to drastically reduce from your daily diet.

The health choices that you make for you and your pet can make the difference in how you both will feel each day.  Remember that our pets don’t have choices but we do. As their guardians we can make a difference in how they feel and and perform.

Raw Food Tip:

Conversion to a natural raw food diet with low levels of refined carbohydrates is a natural way to improving the health and well being of our pets. Converting to this type of diet will be an important achievement in our journey to longevity and a disease free life.
