Do I Really Need Pet Insurance?

October is National Pet Wellness month, and while it’s great to have an entire month designated to our furry friend’s health, it is something most pet parents think about often.  As a Raw Food Specialist, I get calls and/or email almost daily from pet parents who are frustrated or heartbroken over the poor health condition(s) of their fur baby.   The health issues consist of pancreatitis, serious digestive issues, cancer, elevated liver enzymes to dental health, just to name a few.

Treating these serious health conditions can be extremely costly.  Back in the early 1980’s when the first pet insurance policy was offered, not too many pet owners were sold on it.  However, today's pet insurance is at an all time high.  Why is that?  We are seeing more and more pets diagnosed with serious health conditions and treating such conditions can be as much as a college tuition payment.

In past articles such as, “The Debate on Kibble”, or  “The Secret of Raw Feeding”, we have touched on the importance of good nutrition for your pet and how feeding your furry friends a raw diet is one of the best defense for your dog’s health.  Here are some health benefits to feeding Raw:

  • Tartar buildup on the teeth is eliminated, breath is improved, and your pet will have strong, beautiful teeth.
  • Itchy skin conditions associated with allergies will be alleviated, and you can expect a shiny and lustrous coat.
  • Chronic Diarrhea often disappears, and stool volume and odor is significantly reduced.
  • Your pet’s weight will be brought into line, and it’s easy to maintain a leaner, more fit body.
  • The immune system is strengthened and you’ll begin to see increased mobility in arthritic pets.
  • Your pet’s health and well-being will improve for a long and wonderful life.
  • Increase energy and vitality - your pet will act like a puppy again.

Give Fido the best in nutrition for a happy, healthier life; not just one month out of the year, but every single day.  Good nutrition is one of the best insurance policies!

Raw Food Tip:

A prime factor influencing the growth and development of cancer in animals is the animals genetic susceptibility along with a range of chemical and physical agents that are known to influence the health and structure of the animals DNA. Common sense tells us that the longer an animal or human is subjected to toxic chemicals the higher the chance of mutations occurring.
