Allergies and Skin Conditions

Most pet conditions are suffered in silence. Because of their inability to talk and help with the diagnosis, most vets are guessing at causes and treatment of most conditions. Skin allergies on the other hand are quite different. The skin accounts for 12 percent of body weight and is the barrier with the outside world. It is the largest organ in the body.

Millions of pets are troubled by persistent irritation to the point of self-mutilation. Many pet owners are troubled by the sound of incessant itching and scratching.  They rely on advice from groomers, trainers and pet stores. They ultimately end up at the vet clinics for treatment where one-third of other patients exhibit the same signs and symptoms. There they get anti itch, antibacterial, and anti- allergy preparations to treat the symptoms. The exposure to fleas, mites, ticks, and bacteria might suggest that treating the symptoms might be appropriate – but is it? Symptomatic treatment of allergies and skin conditions might not be the right treatment of choice . My suggestion is to dig a little deeper to find the root causes before administering a topical treatment. Evidence is surfacing that unnatural diets predispose animals to unnatural outcomes. In some cases the skin disease signs are directly resulting from the diet . In other situations the diet renders the animal more sensitive to the fleas, bacteria and allergens.

My years of experience and working with a multitude of vets and animal practitioners suggest that healthy dogs that are raised on natural raw food diet based foods do not exhibit the range and severity of skin diseases compared to their artificially fed cousins. For this reason, we see miraculous turnarounds that a change in diet has created . The skin reflects on the true condition of the pet. It is like looking into a mirror to reflect the general condition of the animal. A dull sparse hair coat is like a diagnostic tool and becomes a useful barometer for rendering advice and treatment. Pinch the skin of your dog between your fingers and see if the skin is hard and crusty. If so – it is like taking their temperature. It’s time to take action and reverse the attack on the immune system that is causing this condition. Check on the periodontal condition of the animal as well to see the relationship between poor dental health and allergies. The Barf Diet as well as a world of supplements is available to treat and reverse these symptoms. We at Barf World care about your lovely dogs, just see what some of our customer say about our diet and how it solved their dogs skin conditions.
