Holistic and Chiropractic Healing

Recently, one of our fur babies Sonic, had an unexpected seizure. As a healthy raw fed dog, it was alarming not knowing what may have caused it. His mom, Katie, who is one of our Raw Pet Food Specialists, decided to look into holistic healing.

Katie scheduled a consultation with one of our partners Dr. Ormston (ACES), who specializes in animal chiropractic care. This is one of the many forms of holistic healing and chiropractic care can realign your pup to ensure that there are no obstructions in their spine that could be causing discomfort. There are other forms of holistic healing such as acupuncture, animal massage, cold laser therapy & even raw dog food that is considered holistic pet care.

After an emergency visit to the conventional vet, the concern was that Sonic had elevated enzymes or neurological issues. They immediately recommended medication and testing a week later without any testing or full examination. If you could imagine, this was alarming to hear when Sonic is normally very active, trains in agility and is happy and healthy. After consulting with Dr. O, and all symptoms were shared, he concluded that Sonic may be hypoglycemic. He also suggested that Sonic got adjusted right away!

In the event that Sonic had another seizure it may be due to low blood sugar. Katie was advised to have natural honey to administer immediately after a seizure occurred. The visit to a local chiropractor, Lexington Pet Clinic in Eagan, Minnesota was a great experience. The chiropractor said that he had a couple of spots out of alignment, including one of his toes. They were able to adjust him and complete his initial appointment in about a half hour and all of Katie’s questions and concerns were addressed. Since Sonic is highly active and does agility it was recommended that he gets adjusted every 6 months or an agility event comes up. If the seizures occurred the chiropractor suggested acupuncture treatments.

After Sonic had his chiropractic adjustment his back was straight and his back no longer was curved. His energy, activity level and overall spirit was back to normal. If you are struggling with vet bills, frustrated with finding a solution for your pet, switching to a raw food diet may be the solution for you! If you are looking for an animal chiropractor and have some general questions, Dr. Ormston & Dr. Amy Hayek are currently available to do consultations.
