Liar, Liar, ‘Pants’ On Fire

As a Pet Raw Food Specialist, one of the hardest things to hear from pet parents is,  “I have to stop feeding my dog your raw diet because my vet is recommending a prescription (RX) diet.”.   When I hear this statement I am saddened and angry. I am sad for the pet parent who has put their faith and trust for the wellbeing of their beloved pooch in the hands of their vet.

Then angered by the fact that certain vets are misleading pet parents into believing that they are doing what is best for their dog/cat.  These vets will claim their RX diet will help their pet feel better or even cure them of various ailments.  Not true and pet parents (and even vets) are now starting to learn the truth.

An appeals court drops a bomb on the prescription pet food industry.

Here at BARF World, Inc.®, we have been “preaching” the benefits of a raw diet and how RX diets are just as bad, if not worse, for your pet as kibble.    Kibble is killing our fur babies and so are prescription diets.  Sure, you may see some positive results after a few days of feeding your pet a prescription diet, but it won’t take long until their health issue(s) return and Fido has taken a turn for the worse.  Then you are told to give him even more drugs.  It’s a vicious cycle and a temporary solution.

Then, we get that dreaded call from a heartbroken, very concerned pet parent, who is down to their last hope, wanting us to save their pet’s life.  Many of these desperate pet parents had no idea the benefits of a raw food diet. I was in the same boat only 6 years ago.   I hadn’t even heard of a raw diet for dogs, so I understand the feeling of guilt and regret,  “if I had only known”.   I watched our sweet Copper boy suffer from seizures and other health issues for years before we had to say “goodbye”.   We were heart broken.   It wasn't too long after that when I found BARF World®.  I believe with all my heart that it was the kibble and prescription diets we were feeding Copper that ended his life way too soon.

But now I do know; I am educated on feeding my pets a raw diet.  I have researched and understand the dangers of prescription diets, so there are no more excuses.  Not even the excuse of the cost of raw feeding.  Consider the mounds of vet bills being paid yearly.  Those vet bills are eliminated by feeding your dog a diet that Mother Nature intended them to eat.

I do not want to see any more pets suffer under the guise of prescription diets.    Pet parents who are feeding your dog a raw diet, do not stop simply because your vet suggests a prescription diet.  Do your own research.  Don’t just blindly follow your vet’s recommendation.  Your pet doesn’t not have a voice…. you are their voice and they are counting on you to give them the best life possible.
