Natural Facts About Raw Feeding

At BARF World® the commitment to nutritional excellence is priority. Many pet owners can agree that we often face insurmountable odds in an effort to correct our pet’s health issues. Many owners consider euthanasia to end their companion’s suffering because they are unsure how to reverse their pet’s health issues. Many of these issues are caused by food deficiencies. So why does a raw meat solution seem like an easy solution when other methods of treatment have failed?

As the pet food industry tries to keep up with the increase of pet populations, there is a decrease in the quality of the nutritional products being offered in the pet industry. Here are some natural facts about the proper feeding of your furry four-legged companions:

NATURAL FACT NUMBER ONE

Your dog has a natural carnivorous bias and your cat is an obligate carnivore (meat eater). If your dog or cat is reasonably healthy on a non-meat diet (some have an amazing ability to survive on almost anything), you can consider yourself lucky. However, your pet may develop health problems in the future.

NATURAL FACT NUMBER TWO

Carnivores need to be fed like carnivores to maintain good health! Observe their closest free-ranging relatives in the wild: i.e. foxes, coyotes, wolves, bobcats, lynx, etc. Have you ever seen a wild animal that was obese? If you ask any wildlife biologist or hunter if they have ever seen tartar on a wild animal’s teeth or witnessed bad breath or body odor, the answer will be NO! Or how many have they seen with hair loss, dandruff, or hot spots on their skin? The answer will be NONE. So why do these wild animals manifest none of these symptoms which are so prevalent in many of our furry companions? Mother Nature hasn’t tried to turn them into “corn dogs” and has provided them with natural nutrition.

NATURAL FACT NUMBER THREE

The proper diet to maintain a healthy carnivore is a fresh meat-based diet. A raw food diet has kept  canines and felines healthy for thousands of years. However, for many of our furry friends, the pet food industry has tried to rewrite nature’s rules. This has caused many health problems in today’s pets. But why? Dry kibble, canned wet foods, and semi-moist foods cater to convenience and affordability more than to your pet’s nutritional needs.

NATURAL FACT NUMBER FOUR

The most natural way to preserve nature’s designated food for carnivores is freezing raw fresh meat. Using this method maintains product integrity and nutritional quality and excellence.

NATURAL FACT NUMBER FIVE

Dogs and cats have the ability to digest their food, based on two key factors - digestibility and the biological effectiveness of the natural ingredients. There are many ingredients contained in some pet foods today that contain all the major nutrients needed by dogs and cats - if they could digest them! On the other hand, some available ingredients are almost completely digestible, but lack any beneficial and essential nutrients. This is because the ingredients are cooked, leaving little nutritional value for your pet to digest.

What better gauge of values could anyone use in selecting ingredients for meat eaters than observing what Mother Nature has provided to keep her companions healthy for ages? Studies done on the BARF World® diets show the digestibility to be at or greater than 90% which is similar to what you would see in the wild. One would be hard pressed to find a more natural diet available to aid in your preventative health care program for your pet.

“Committed to Nutritional Excellence” is definitely not just a slogan, but is a steadfast way of dedication for all of us at BARF World®. Introduce “The Magic of Meat” in feeding your beloved, furry, four-legged companion, and watch how those frustrating and seemingly incurable conditions naturally disappear!

Raw Food Tip:

In an evolutionary sense, a wild dog's diet contains almost no grains. They never eat cooked grain. In eating the intestinal contents of their prey they will eat some grain, which is usually immature and green. Most certainly they do not eat a totally grain based diet like the modern dog, subjected to a lifetime of dried dog food.
