Salmon For Your Pup? Why Yes!

Salmon is a delicious and healthy fish option for humans to eat. But is it good for our beloved companions to eat as well? Yes! Most of us recognize salmon as a popular cat food ingredient, but it can be an appetizing and beneficial protein, fat, vitamin, mineral and an exceptional source of Omega-3 fatty acids for our pups as well!

Salmon is rich in vitamin A, B (including the whole series of B vitamins) and vitamin D. It is also rich in minerals such as magnesium, potassium, and zinc. The most well known benefit of consuming salmon is that it is very high in EPA and DHA, both of which are long-chain omega- 3 fatty acids which have more potent health advantages than ALA, a short-chain omega- 3 fatty acid. These fatty acids help control the inflammatory process in the body which can be rewarding for pets in many ways including:

  • Reducing the occurrence and symptoms of allergies; helping to fight certain allergy-based skin reactions that cause rashes, dryness, and even fur loss, and relief from red, itchy, flaky skin as a result of those irritations
  • Improving strong healthy joint function especially as pets age and reducing inflammation that can lead to conditions such as arthritis
  • Healthier skin quality and improvement of your dog’s coat- making it lusher, softer and shinier
  • Aids in producing more collagen in your dog’s system
  • Promotes healthier cardiovascular function, helping to prevent and fight heart disease, and to lower blood pressure and triglycerides
  • Assists with increasing brain development in fetuses and in puppies
  • Helps to decrease Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Supports healthy weight loss in overweight dogs
  • Improves cognitive function in older dogs

With all these amazing benefits for your pet, wouldn’t you want to give your four-legged furry friend the advantage of these incredible rewards? Salmon is a valuable addition to your dog’s diet by itself or when combined with other premium pet ingredients.

In addition to our Wild Alaska Salmon Oil, BARF World, Inc. will soon be offering our much anticipated Land & Sea Diet, which consists of Beef, Chicken & Salmon.   This new diet will be available on our website Monday, October 12, 2020. Now your pet can now reap the benefits with BARF World’s new Land & Sea diet!

Raw Food Tip:

Because both GLA and EPA help to block the production of inflammatory substances, their use has been shown to reduce or eliminate the need for certain medications such as anti-inflammatory drugs (corticosteroids), and anti-allergics. It is suggested that the approximate GLA and EFA dosage levels will depend upon the animal and its condition. It is recommended that they are administered for at least six to eight weeks before assessing the response.
