Why Small Dogs Bark More

Recently, I began to notice that some dogs, especially smaller breeds, tend to bark more than others. I have especially noticed this, in social settings where they are the smallest dog in the room. I began to grow curious as to why this may be, and if anyone else had shared this same experience. Turns out it is very common and actually has a name. It is called small dog syndrome or napoleon complex.

Rufio, one of our own Brand Ambassadors, is one of the youngest and smaller dogs in our pack. He has a very sweet personality and loves being with his family. He also loves to play with his other buddy, Sonic.

Recently, there were some setbacks and changes in his daily routine. Some of the tricks and commands he once knew, he no longer responded to, which resulted in us taking a different approach.

Although Rufio's recent stubbornness could be attributed to him being a puppy, we had to adjust and make some changes in his daily routine to refocus on his training. All while also making sure to be patient and not overwhelm him all at once. The training process with a new puppy can be stressful on everyone involved, which is why taking breaks and reinforcing positive behavior is crucial.
