Does Your Pet Need Supplements?

When your pet is provided with optimum levels of vitamins and minerals you can expect to see these benefits:

  • Proper growth
  • Good health
  • Stamina
  • Reproductive health
  • Disease resistance
  • Proper Detoxification
  • Longevity

With the importance of appropriate vitamins and minerals in a pet’s diet many may ask, “Do BARF® fed dogs and cats require additional supplements?” The BARF® Diet™ is specially formulated with plenty of vitamins and minerals that are supplied in a biologically appropriate formula, therefore additional supplementation is not required.

Enzymes help us digest food

In some cases, pets that have special dietary needs, health issues or in a particular life stage, may require additional supplementation of vitamins and minerals. These supplements can be added to the BARF Diet™ for the added boost that the pet needs to strengthen the immune system. For example, if your pet has been fed a cooked and processed diet for an extended period of time, you will see a value in additional supplementation. It is common for a pet that has been eating processed food most of its life, will lack natural reproduction and living enzymes which are found in a raw meat diet.

BARF World® offers a wide variety of proteins for your dog or cat. Our Jump-Start Bundle is a popular supplement pack that provides additional support for common health issues that pets have.

Your veterinarian can also help you determine which supplements are most appropriate for your pet. Unlike most veterinarians, our advice is free! In fact, we have Raw Pet Food Specialists that are trained in pet health and nutrition. Our raw food expert, Robert Mueller, is a registered pharmacist and has been in the pet food industry for over 40 years! Rob has partnered with veterinarians across the US to promote holistic health to pet parents. He has also worked with veterinarians and formulated our E-BARF® Plus and BARF® Diets for years.

If you have any particular questions or would like to schedule a consultation to discuss your pet’s needs, we’d love to hear from you.

Raw Food Tip:

Minor relief from arthritis conditions can be gained by adding a glucosamine and chondroitin supplement to your pet’s daily food regimen, but be aware that it takes time to gain the benefits from these supplements. Using omega essential fatty acids – like those found in Alaska Natural oil – have also been successful to control inflammation. This is a much safer approach than the use of harmful steroids which only provide temporary relief.
