Wolf vs. Dog

An article written by Dr. Ian Billinghurst in 2005, has raised a valid point that involves the origin of canine evolution. Dr. Billinghurst reveals that evidence clearly exists which leads to dogs evolving from the wolf. Hence, the meaning of the BARF® diet, which is complete and balanced to mimic what a wolf would eat in the wild. Keep reading to see the benefits of feeding dogs biologically appropriate raw food.

He also points out that even though dogs evolved from wolves, it’s important to note their similarities and their differences. An interesting twist is that both dogs and wolves will freely interbreed. Both species share more than 99% of their DNA and are able to produce viable offspring. His point in making this analogy was to highlight that the digestion physiology has not changed from what was established some 15,000 years ago.
